I am interested in geometry, systems and the effect which occurs when one system overlays another. The overlaying of patterns,
ideas, and concepts is fundamental to our experience of life and our understanding of it.
For more than twenty years my work has frequently turned to architecture as a source of inspiration. What interest me are the
simplest principles of architectural form, particularly those of ancient and sacred architecture.ÊMy interpretation of these
structures is poetic, though geometric, and results in images which are completely abstract.
Most recently I have been working with the idea of sacred stairs, which grant ritual access to temple structures in many of
the world's religions. The stairs grant not only accesses, but also a procession and pilgrimage--a meditative experience, which
has long been a theme in my work as well.
